Thacker News – March 19th live show cancelled

The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour has announced the cancellation of its March 19th show, scheduled for next Thursday at the Gertrude C. Ford Center as part of the now-postponed Oxford Film Festival. Travel and health issues with Thacker crew and guests combined for the decision to cancel the radio show.

“We decided it was best to cancel next week and take the rest of our schedule on a show-by-show basis,” said Alice Pierotti, Thacker’s producer-director.

The show’s spring schedule calls for six more live shows on successive Thursdays through April. The Oxford-based program will continue to be heard every Saturday on Mississippi and Alabama public radio stations.

The Thacker Board of Directors issued the following statement:

The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour, like everyone, is monitoring news of the coronavirus. Our number one concern is the safety of our audience members, guest artists, band, crew and our community.

“As of this writing, we have cancelled our Thursday, March 19th performance. Our next live show is scheduled for Thursday, March 26 at Off Square Books. We will notify the public immediately through social media and our website if schedule changes occur. Show updates: https://thackermountain.com/

“We refer our listeners to their local health authorities including the Mississippi Department of Health for all the latest news and health advice: https://msdh.ms.gov/.

“We love y’all. Stay safe everybody. Thank you for your patience.”

The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour can be heard every Saturday at 7 pm on Mississippi Public Broadcasting http://www.mpbonline.org/ and every Saturday at 9 pm on Alabama Public Radio https://www.apr.org/.
