Featuring

Author

Phillip Lewis

Author Philip Lewis was born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains and now practices law in Charlotte, N.C. where he lives with his family. His debut novel is The Barrowfields (Hogart). “A charming, absorbing, and assured debut novel, about a young man who tries to make sense of his father’s life and the passions that unite them—namely, a devotion to literature and a rueful nostalgia for their Appalachian homeland. Lewis evokes his settings beautifully, and his prose is bracingly erudite. This debut has the ability to fully immerse its readers.” (Publishers Weekly)

Music

Terry "Harmonica" Bean

Terry Harmonica Bean, originally from Pontotoc, is a harp-blowing, guitar-grooving one-man band. He got his start playing his name sake instrument, accompanying Delta blues greats such as T-Model Ford, Asa Payton and Lonnie Pitchford. He now performs with guitar and harp as a solo act appearing at festivals across this country and Europe. His CDs include Catfish Blues, Hill Country Blues with the Big Sound, and Rock This House Tonight.

Adam Torres

Austin-based singer/songwriter Adam Torres’ newest release is the four-track EP I Came to Sing the Song (Fat Possum). The album has a focus on songs about songwriting, personal, inward-looking tunes marked by a deliberate, languid tempo and spacey atmosphere, as well as Adam’s unmistakable falsetto. Torres’s previous CDs include Nostra Nova and Pearls to Swine.

Prior to his Thacker appearance, Torres and his band will perform at Proud Larry’s on Wednesday, March 8 at 9 pm. Kate Teague will open the show.
