Featuring

Music

Joe Restivo

Memphis guitarist Joe Restivo has just released his first solo album, Where’s Joe? (Blue Barrel). The album reflects Restivo’s eclecticism from be-bop, jump blues and cool jazz elements to his love of jazz guitar greats Bill Jennings and Tiny Grimes.

Thacker audiences will remember Restivo from his previous visits as guitarist with the soul-jazz band, the City Champs and R&B stalwarts, the Bo-Keys. In recent years, Restivo has toured Europe backing soul greats Don Bryant and William Bell.

Author

Shaun Hamill

Shaun Hamill is author of A Cosmology of Monsters (Pantheon), his first novel. The book tells the disturbing story of a family who create a haunted house attraction called the Wandering Dark only to find themselves haunted by monsters. Monsters both figurative and very literal stalk the Turner family.

The family tries to shield their youngest, baby Noah, from the house’s faux horrors, but unbeknownst to them, he’s being visited by a furry beast with glowing orange eyes–the same one glimpsed by both his mother and sister.

However, unlike them, Noah decides to let the creature in.
