Author/musician and producer Sean Kelly’s latest book is White Noise & Lightning: The Continental Drifters Story (Cool Dog Sound). The book chronicles the Continental Drifters – a “super group” made up of members from The Cowsills, The Bangles, R.E.M., The Dream Syndicate, Hootie & the Blowfish, The dB’s, and others.
The Drifters establish a dive-bar residency in Hollywood as the book chronicles their band life and the usual suspects of ambition, ambivalence, romance, addiction, and finally, family.
Kelly conducted extensive interviews with all ten musicians from the band, as well their cast of colorful cohorts, for a portrait one described as, “a locomotive going downhill.”
Mia Borders is a singer-songwriter from New Orleans mixing soul, funk, rhythm and blues, and electronic music.
She has released six albums, including her latest, Firewalker, which includes George Porter, Jr. on the title track.
Her previous album was 2023’s Live in New Orleans, which was recorded at the 2022 Crescent City Blues and BBQ Festival.
Her 2019 release was Good Side of Bad.
Silas Caldwell, is a rising young musician in Nashville, born and raised in the hills of North Mississippi. His band is The Magnolia Sound.
Silas’ musical style combines the North Mississippi hill country blues with artists such as Patti Smith, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Calexico, and Stax Records.
